Stephenie Meyer (nee Morgan) was born in Hartford, Conneticut, on the 24th December 1973, and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. She is best known for her romantic vampire series Twilight, which are primarily aimed at young adult/teenage audiences.
Meyer says that the idea for Twilight came to her in a dream. Meyer wrote the transcript of what is now chapter 13 of the book. Despite having very little writing experience, in a matter of three months she had transformed that vivid dream into a completed novel. The book was released in 2005 with New Moon (2006), Eclipse (2007), and Breaking Dawn (2008), following soon after.
The Twilight novels have sold over 40 million copies worldwide, with translations into 37 different languages. A film adaptation of Twilight was released on 21st November 2008 and the first sequel New Moon is due for release before the end of 2009.
Meyer is also the author of the adult science-fiction novel The Host.
