One of Pratchett's defining moments. This tale of Sam Vimes and the Watch will have you laughing your socks off while reflecting on the glorious ironies of life. Superb

Of all the Ankh-Morpork series the ones about the adventures of The City Watch have got to be the best! The diverse characters are all still totally believable while Terry Pratchett plays with the readers expectations and turns them on their head with practiced ease. Brilliant satire!

Typical Terry Pratchett- and that is a compliment. Beneath the mayhem there are wonderful characters.

This one of the funniest of his books and that's saying a lot.

A good read, Pratchett is one of my favourite authors. I love the characters.

The Night Watch crew are some of the best characters Terry Pratcheet has created, but in this book Vimes is transported back in time where he takes on the role of his mentor - to his young self. Strong parallels to Le Miserables (or any tale of the barricades). Highly amusing and well worth a read.

I think this was Terry Pratchett's peak - one of the best Discworld books - lots of depth. But I've always loved the Death books the best.

Anything with Vimes or Susan in it is guaranteed to be a good read.
