I'm afraid I didn't get on with this book at all. I've tried a few times in my life and each one I've never got past the first few pages. There is something that's just so stereotypical about it.

Irritating characters. I cannot stand Tom Sawyer, and although this book was mildly entertaining, I couldn't really read it for too long without being annoyed by someone. As a matter of fact, the only one who didn't bother me was Huck.

Great read but too similar to The adventures of Tom Sawyer for my liking. Bit picky considering.

i preferred Tom Sawyer, but when you've read Tom Sawyer, and miss him, then read this, Then go onto Garrison Keillors books, which are similar and very funny, which may lead you to the superb Annie Proulx, who has yet to write a rotten book.

The best and purest American book of all time. It does wane in the last ten chapters. Twain did not need Sawyer to take back over the book and you want to slap Sawyer silly but Huck is one of the most exact and superb characters in all of fiction. Read it more than once and you will find its truth in different places each time.

Just like licking your elbow or sneezing with your eyes open is impossible, so is reading Huck Finn and not laughing.

I really enjoyed reading this classic novel - supposedly for children, it can really be read and enjoyed by adults too.
