A beautifully written, evocative, sumptuous book. This is probably my favourite Joanne Harris book. The story deals with family, community and the plot springs around a tragedy which underpins everything. The rich, sensual descriptions of the sights, sounds and smells transport you to the French countryside where Five Quarters of an Orange is set.
