Yes it's melodramatic, but a brilliant read nonetheless. I like the second bit best, as Hareton Earnshaw and Catherine Linton are far more likeable (especially after Catherine stops being such a stuck-up little madam) than either Catherine Earnshaw or Heathcliff. Some terrific set moments - my favourite being ghostly Cathy knocking at the window and Lockwood drawing her wrist across the broken glass...

I've read this fourteen times, and still go back for another shot! One of my all time favorites.

I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I'd read it when I was 17 or so. All the hormones washing about, it would have appealed to me more. A famous, classic love story but, in my opinion, over-hyped.
