Chabon loses it a bit at the end- the book goes on too long but the first 90% is exhilirating.

A fantasic read. It takes a well-worn period of time and manages to find some new pathways. The depiction of the comic explosion in America captures the perspiration and the desperation of the times. This is a well-crafted novel that is so enjoyable...

My favourite book of recent years. Fantastic story about love, loss and story telling. Set against a backdrop stretching from the beginning of the second world war and detailing the birth of the comic book.
Not just for geeks though!
