The best sci-fi book I've ever read, hands down. Everything in this book seems so plausible because of the use of science that it's impossible to put down.

This is an amazing novel, one that keeps the reader wondering, "Could something like this ever really happen?" And I mean that in the best way possible--Crichton makes readers believe in the plots of his novels...readers come to think that maybe, just maybe, something like what happens in the novel *could* happen.

If you have seen the movie, disregard everything you have seen. The movie is full of special effects and action--tricks to keep movie-goers interested. The novel is full of much more. The plot is much richer and well-written, with interesting characters and beautifully described scenery. This book is well-worth reading.

Fast paced, intelligent and driven throughout! an utter class act that led the way for techno thrillers since. When you have seen the film then read the book as it brings the story to life and leads perfectly into the sequel.
Well worth reading!

Interesting concept for a story, but I just didn't enjoy the way the plot was written.

This is the first Crichton book that I read and I am thankful that I started with this one, it took me to great places and the movie, though is good, it doesn't do the book much justice.

Jurassic Park is a classic. I remember reading this as a kid and for the first time realizing that I could actually learn some sort of science while reading novels. Granted, Crichton's use of chaos theory here may be razor thin, but I finished the book and could have read the thickest scientific tome on chaos theory and loved it because I'd be thinking, "yeah, like in Jurassic Park!" So I guess this book taught me that fiction can actually entertain by teaching interesting stuff as well as having dinosaurs eat people.

Just an awesome sci-fi book. If you loved the movies and are hesitant you can't get into the book, take my own experience as evidence that you CAN! I was like you, fellow reader, and the book shattered my expectations. It made me want to delve more into Crichton's works. This is so much deeper than the movie, and the action is intense. The T-Rex is an amazing villain in the book. Don't miss this awesome sci-fi novel!
