Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

Well.. In the beginning it's a little boring. But after the cave, you just... get so curious about how Wanda will convince everyone about Melanie's situaction and how she could hear her. And, (for my experience) you'll just love the way Wanda thinks, the way Wanda loves, the way Wanda acts. And of course, Ian. It is a very original story (of course it's Meyer's), and almost everyone feels touched with this book. It's really amazing, and we can see how Stephenie Meyer has changed the way she writes. The way she describes everything... EVERYTHING. The Host, is for now, my favorite book.

This book does start a little weird and it takes a while to get into. you just have to figure out who's who and what is actually going on. but after that it is brilliant! you get completely hooked. the releationships between the characters are so unusual it draws you in and you have to know what happens next. i highly recommend anyone who stopped reading it to continue because it's worth it!

When I finished this book I found out that it was the best I've ever read.... I was jelous of Wanda and Melanie because they have true love in their life. Wanda has the, hopeful, insparational, and loving Ian. Melanie has, the trustful, respectful, and loving Jared. I wish I had a love like Ian. I admitt I'm jelous of a book character. I always go head over heel when I read books. I get attached. I love them and wish they were real. The boring reality is what we have to live in.... for now at least. We never know what will happen. Or if we'll find our true love the next day trying to steal from him or meet him while your prisoner where he lives. You'll never know. I want it. I want love. But I'll find it on my own time.
I <3 books!
