Actually, I'm not someone who has always wanted to be a writer - I only discovered how much I loved it when I was scribbling down all the anecdotes and things that had happened to me during my first job, as an investment banker.
I was so disillusioned with the way the City really was that I decided to pour out my frustrations, and that was what formed the basis of my first novel, Golden Handcuffs. Then once I realised how much I enjoyed writing, I wrote another book, then another, then another...

Good question. Actually, I was fortunate in that I had a very happy, stable childhood, but I met someone at St Christophers, a charity that helps young & vulnerable people get back on their feet after problems at home, and some of their stories really touched me.
'The youth of today' gets really bad press, and I wanted people to think about the real reasons for people running away from home.

Where do you get your inspiration from on books like this? Did you run away as a child?
