The bookarmy coffee house

How are we supposed to make friends if we don't get to know each other a little bit? So stop in and say hi. Have a nice cup of coffee (or your beverage of preference, we serve everything here) and let's chat.

Suggestions for Book Army- Authors and book series we want added!

This forum is for those of us to be able to let Book Army know which authors and book series we want added... We want the authors to have pic (when they are available) and bios. We want the books to have covers, synopsis and we want them grouped together in series and in series number order... that would be so helpful to those of us who read series! We would love love love you guys! Alright let the suggestions begin!

First ever book? & help!

Category: Fiction
What was the first adult book that you ever read? (adult in as much as I mean grown up). I was 10 and shopping with my Mom in the Co-op. At the checkout was a wire circular book rack which squeaked loudly as you turned it, crammed full of thrashy American half a crown novels. My eyes were drawn to one in particular, it had a black cover with a spooky alien face in the top left hand corner and an eerie ginger coloured figure wearing glasses to the right. My Mom said no to my pleading and I watched in horror week after week, as the book rack slowly emptied - but the one I wanted so badly stayed firmly put, waiting for me. Finally, Mom dug deep into her purse and gave me the money, five tanner pieces. That night, I read up to page 54 before falling asleep. I still have book 40 odd years later, yellowing but still loved, it sits pride of place on my bookshelf. Happy memories. Oh, the book!!! J.Hunter Holly - 'The Gray Aliens'. J. Hunter Holly was in fact, a lady sci-fi writer, maybe the first. I know she loved cats (from the dedications) and died in 1982, aged 50. She was also a huge 'Man from Uncle' fan and wrote one of the books in the UNCLE series ( I have a signed copy). Other than that. I now little about her. If anyone out there can add to my knowledge, I'd be so grateful.

books you can't find on Bookarmy

We are working to improve the selection of books and authors we have on the site and it would be really useful if you could post any titles you can't find on this forum. Thanks!
