Have been listing a whole load of Mills And Boon for sale!! Just reading the synopsis on the back cover and looking at the sickly front cover picture is bad enough. The sexist, pathetic titles, however, are what can make me rush for the "sick bucket". Let's face it, they don't really qualify as boos, do they?

Maybe I've been too harsh on "Treasure Island" - may yet re-read and change my mind - being 11 years old is a very long time ago and tastes do change I suppose.

I have to disagree with you re: Treasure Island. Even though I read it at school I have since re-read it and find it an enjoyable read. I am however not enthralled enough by it to stick my hands into the flames to rescue it. No Savlon required thanks. x

My barbie builders would be "Treasure Island", which I was forced to read when I was 11 and started High School. It bored me silly! The other is "Last of the Mohicans" - I read it after I'd seen the Daniel Day-Lewis version of the film - what a disappointment! The sentences were so long I'd forgotten what James Fenimore Cooper was writing about.

there were several books in school that i liked...of mice and men, to kill a mockingbird, ethan frome, the crucible (mainly because of john proctor's "name" speech at the end), scarlett letter. there are more but i can't think of them.

have you tried reading the faery series by Melissa Marr. They are for young adults but I bough one on a whim and they are great. Especially the one about the dark faery court. You might love these books.

Fantasy fiction is something you have to have a childlike wonder sometimes to really appreciate it! I love fantasy fiction and love to see what each author can come up with! Their minds in my opinion are amazing! I loved the Harry Potter series but some times found it very dark... but overall very enjoyable! I also love the Fablehaven series by Mull and Percy Jackson series by Riordan!

I have found that ppl either love HP or they hate it. There is no in between. I'm sorry you didn't like it, but I must rescue Harry from the flames.

Harry Potter! After all these years I still fail to understand why it's so popular. (PS - I know I'll probably be flung on the fire too for saying this...)
