The bookarmy coffee house
How are we supposed to make friends if we don't get to know each other a little bit? So stop in and say hi. Have a nice cup of coffee (or your beverage of preference, we serve everything here) and let's chat.

I hope everyone is having a good evening. The forecast says it's going to be stormy again in the UK this evening so it will be a bit of reading beside the fire for quite a few of us this evening I think. Anything interesting being read by anyone at the moment?

Any other authors out there who live in Brittany, Normandy or the Pays de la Loire?
I'm searching for fellow writers who have books in print (via mainstream publishers or self-published) or who plan to publish soon to explore ideas for joint promotional and marketing activities.
If that's you, pop over to http://www.webvivantpress.com/goa.html to let me know.

Hi folks,
Any room for a new one? I like tea (strong, indian, milk and two sugars please.)Failing that a good single malt will suffice!
For anyone who might like to know, here is a potted history of my second favourite subject--me.
The name's Max Speed. I was born in South Wales toward the end of the 1950's. Failing at my eleven plus exam, I was educated in the secondary system, and left school with an 'O' level in art, and a GCE in English. Notwithstanding this somewhat inauspicious beginning, I went on to prove myself (I hope)a valuable member of society, joining the Welsh Guards, and returning from the Falklands Islands conflict as a decorated soldier. My 'exemplary' military record opened doors for me, and I went on to enjoy a happy and successful seventeen year career as a firefighter in Berkshire which I can only describe as the best thing I've ever done.I loved every minuye of it. Unfortunately a knee injury ended this happy period in my life, and as a result I moved back to Wales in 2002 to take up my paintbrushes and become an artist--full time. The creative juices flowed freely, and working with oil on canvass as well as watercolours I have turned out a reasonable portfolio. Then a year ago, after many years struggling with the concept, I decided to write Windfall of the Wise. It was over a decade ago that I first formed the idea that most of our problems stem from our absurd and obsessive pursuit of money. But I found it difficult to put my point across and people would often derail my argument by their failure to grasp the point. So I decided to put pen to paper and construct my premise in a clear and cohesive framework that (hopefully) a child could understand. When I began writing the book the words just fell out of my head--it kind of wrote itself really. I have now begun working on my autobiography. At least I have the advantage of knowing the plot, though thankfully, not the ending.
So there you are. This is me. I hope to hear that some of you read my book which has so far attracted some excellent reviews on Amazon.com (The American website) but so far nobody knows of it over here in the UK.
Perhaps some of you can help remedy that situation.
Oh well, down the hatch!
All the best, and thanks for listening.
Max.
