Isabelle Allende's books would cover Chile, if you are trawling for South American books - but there is such a wonderful wealth of literature from that part of the world. To head really south (Tierra del Fuego) you could read "In Patagonia"... someone help me out with the author on that one, or I'll look it up on Amazon.... ah, ha! Bruce Chatwin?? Is that correct? I just read a wonderful little book called "Mr Pip" which is set on the island of Bouganville (where, I hear you ask?..), which is part of Papua New Guinea. It's a story of a man who decides to teach the children about life by using "Great Expectations" - hence Pip. Very small, very moving and a thoroughly good read. Our bookclub really enjoyed it! Hope you can add that one to your list.

Well, I have read it, but as it was such a wonderful book I'm quite happy to read it again! (I read it years ago anyway!) (It will be difficult finding a book that one of us hasn't read before!!!)

Hmm, have been considering lindlec's email this morning for a "read along" for this group and so far have come up with, wait for it, absolutely no ideas whatsoever.

That said, if we can avoid really long and Russian :-) then I would be happy!

I shall do some more thinking tomorrow...

Well, I was thinking possibles of:
Madame Bovary; Dr Zhivago, The Brothers Karamazov.
Everything I can think of is either really long, or russian though haha!

Any suggestions would be great!
