Cathy Glass is a writer and foster carer. She has looked after more than 70 children, of all ages and backgrounds. She also has three teenage children of her own; one of whom, Lucy, was adopted after a long-term foster placement.

Cathy combines fostering with writing by rising early in the morning to write, before the day begins with her ever-changing family. Before the success of Damaged, she had written short stories, articles, and poems for various national magazines and newspapers.
