Roald Dahl is the world's No. 1 storyteller. Although renowned for his children’s stories, Dahl actually started out writing short stories for adults. One of the most famous was Lamb to the Slaughter in which a woman kills her husband then ingenuously dispenses with incriminating evidence. Dahl made the first switch to children’s stories with his 1960s book James and the Giant Peach. His books continue to be bestsellers. Many of Dahl's stories, such as Matlida, The Witches, and James and the Giant Peach have been made into films. Most recently, Tim Burton has re-imagined Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by mixing his own distinctive gothic style with Roald's wit and imagination. Fantastic Mr. Foxhas also had the Hollywood makeover, with Wes Anderson’s film adaptation released this year.
